Born Athletic's Sport Psychology & Peak Performance Consultant Julie Partridge provides counseling and strategies to enhance every athlete's mental preparation. Julie began her college studies at Coffeyville Community College where she was a member of both the softball and volleyball teams and was a two-time NJCAA Distinguished Academic All-American in both sports. She went on to Kansas State University, where she completed a BS in Psychology. Dr. Partridge then trekked east to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she completed her MA in Sport Psychology. Lastly, she moved to the University of Northern Colorado, where she completed a PhD in Social Psychological Kinesiology with a doctoral minor in Educational Psychology. Dr. Partridge is currently an assistant professor of sport & exercise psychology at SIUC, where she teaches psychological aspects of sport, applied sport psychology, exercise psychology, and psychology of injury. A bright, upcoming scholar, she is involved in numerous studies examining shame coping as an emotional response in sport & exercise, and the social influence (parents, peers, siblings, and coaches) in sport. Dr. Partridge is the coordinator of the Saluki Sport Psychology Clinic and also serves as the Graduate Coordinator for the master’s program (Master of Science in Education) in the SIUC Department of Kinesiology. Prior to coming to Carbondale, she was an instructor in the Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado at Boulder. In her spare time she enjoys playing volleyball, spending time with her husband Dr. Phil Anton, and playing with her dog Buddy.
